Here are several real world examples on how to apply real-time analytics

Using real-time analytics effectively can equal to real-time decisions that can really boost your traffic.

This article from Parsely, Inc. is on point and offers several real world examples on how to apply real-time analytics:

1. Have a story you can see performing well with a specific group (i.e. people from a city or maybe millennials), deliver it to a segmented audience (email segmentation).

2. You have an article taking off, get it in logical places more people will see it (relate it to all future stories around that topic, put it in “articles you may like” sections on your site + all your distribution channels).

3. You’re writing an article about a topic and something related to that topic is trending, build out content around it.Parse.lyuses the example of writing a story about the Grammy’s and learning a musician at the Grammy’s is trending, so create additional content around that musician. The same could be said if you see a story gaining audience, consider how you could follow up on that story or extend it another day.

Real-world example: When I worked at a TV station and we were covering a tropical depression, we saw that people were searching for rain boots, so we created a story on where to get them in town and the story outperformed many of our weather stories that day.

Would love to hear how you use real-time analytics for content wins!
